SETUP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Click on the Install button and select 'Open' or 'Run this program from its current location'. Alternatively, run the file SETUP.EXE from the software\n4r\files\Demo_N4R_Version folder on this CD-ROM.

2. The installation program will then install the program; just click on the buttons as they appear.

3. The install directory must be on C: Drive do not change it!

The following steps apply to the installation of the full version on next month's issue.

4. Do not uninstall the demo version if you intend to install the full version.
Do not install the full version unless you intend to register it after installation, as it will not work since it requires immediate registration to function.

5. To install the full version, select the Full_N4R_Version folder on the CD-ROM and double-click Full_N4R.exe.

6. In order to register the full version of Need4Reading, click on the Start menu, then Programs, then select Need4Reading. Once you have done this, a registration panel will appear. On this panel, an eight-digit number titled ‘Site Code’ will need to be copied exactly to the Order Form that is located on the Need4Reading folder on your CD.

7. Upon receipt of your order form, we create the ‘Init Code’ and transmit it back to you to unlock your Need4Reading program.

8. On receiving the code, enter it into the edit box and click Continue.

Follow these instructions only if you are running Windows NT 4.0 or 2000.
1. Run N4r_NT.exe. This will change the N4R.exe to the NT Version.

2. If you register the standard N4r.exe and run it on Windows NT or 2000, you will only be able to use it as Administrator and not as a normal user.

Hints
Problem: The taskbar at the bottom of the screen gets in the way of Need4Reading.
Answer: Select Start -> Settings -> Taskbar then click AutoHide.

Problem: Need4Reading is the wrong size on the screen.
Answer: Select Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings tab, then select 800 by 600.

Problem: The video panel on the left is blank.
Answer: Please download the video codec from Microsoft at www.microsoft.com/download/. The codec can also be saved to a floppy disk if necessary and transferred to your machine.

• 300M hard disk space for the full installation
• Soundcard and speakers or headphones
• Internet Explorer 5.5
• Windows Media Player 6.3 or higher
• Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4.0/2000/XP

If you have a older type of system you may need to install some additional software that is available from Microsoft.
Need4Reading requires the ‘codec mpeg-4 V2’ which enables the multimedia section of the program to function.

If the video below plays on your system it should be operating correctly.
